How I was Stranded as Basingstoke Became Gridlocked Due To Snow

Snow: Why is the Economy Held to Ransom by Schools Who Choose To Close Prematurely?
Friday, December 18th, 2009The economy is being held to ransom by a few headteachers wanting to close their schools for an extra day’s holiday.
It was magical to wake up to a world blanketed in snow this morning, there is no denying that. But upon hearing that a number of schools in my local area had shut their doors, my hackles were raised to say the least! Why is it that in this country there are those that carry on regardless, while others find any excuse to have a day off work? The Hampshire County Council website reports that 11 primary, infant and junior schools are closed today. No secondary schools it should be noted. Some are located in country lanes but the majority are situated on main roads and bus routes. (more…)

BCI Conference: a Surprising Success!
Friday, November 13th, 2009As planned we exhibited at the BCI run global conference this week in the Hammersmith Novotel. This was our first year as an exhibitor at the BCM World Conference and Exhibition and I didn’t know quite what to expect in terms of attending delegates. Although numbers of people weren’t excessive – around 400 delegates registered, plus visitors to the exhibition - we had some really good conversations with Business Continuity Managers from around the globe, some we knew and others we didn’t.
