According to Career Energy, a career management and outplacement consultancy, Risk Manager has made the top ten careers for 2010 for people seeking to change their current job.
The choice of careers were selected on the basis that people would move to these positions ‘mid-life’ and therefore do not require lengthy training or re-qualifications.
For me this throws up the question, why would people want to change career to risk manager? Is it becuase it does not require much training? Is it because it seems a ’safe bet’ in our risk averse society, therefore quite recession proof? Or actually is it becoming a more attractive and fulfilling role than previously thought of?
Personally I feel that it is seen as a role which is seemingly recession proof – there will always be risks to any organisation and therefore a reason for someone to manage those risks.
If you have any views on this it would be great to read your own perspective.
