40 people a day could die of swine flu, warn ministers

The government is predicting that up to 100,000 new cases of swine flu could be reported each day by the end of August. New advice is being given that anyone suffering with symptoms should stay at home and nominate a ‘flu friend’ to go and pick up anti-viral drungs which should then be posted through the sufferer’s letter box. It is clear that the spread of the virus is gathering pace and it will not be long until major outbreaks within public gatherings cause mass absenteeism within the UK’s industry sectors.

It will be a testing time for those who have insufficient or no business continuity plans, to be able to cope with the effects of the pandemic. Indeed I am hearing reports that the NHS Direct line is now offering voice recorded messages to flu sufferers as it cannot cope with the influx of enquiries. (I will update when I hear more on this subject). I am also hearing of cases now where healthy employees are being told to stay at home because their spouse has swine flu. For all the sceptics who thought that this virus would just go away, the headlines show the reality, and now is the time to protect your employees, your business and most importantly your inbound telecoms. Contact GemaTech to discuss further how you can achieve this now, before it’s too late.
